Lana Ogilvie, Canadian & International Supermodel

LANA OGILVIE

Canadian & International Supermodel

The first ethnic model to sign an exclusive contract with Cover Girl Cosmetics, Lana Ogilvie has been a role model for thousands of young women around the world.

Lana was ‘discovered’ at her High School fashion show as a teen, in Toronto, Canada. She moved to New York to work with the prestigious Ford Modeling Agency, where she lived at Eileen Ford’s house along with other Ford alumn., Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell.

After working in Paris, Milan and London as a sought after runway model for designers such as Azzedine Alaia, Gianfranco Ferre, Prada, Missoni, Sonia Rykiel, Lagerfeld, and Issey Miyake to name a few, Lana became a regular face in magazines around the world such as Vogue, British Vogue, German, Spanish, Italian and Australian Vogues, Harper’s and Queen, Elle, English Elle, German, Dutch, Spanish and French Elle, Belle, Cosmopolitan, Bazaar, L’Officiel, and Italian Bazaar.

She has graced the cover of many of magazines;  Vogue, Elle, Madame, LA Style, Grazia, Amica, Fashion, Chatelaine and Flare, and has been featured in numerous advertising campaigns, DKNY, Bali, Express, Ann Taylor, Gap, Banana Republic, Absolute, Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, Saks 5th Ave, Bergdorf Goodman, Escada, Mary Kaye, Birks, Clairol, Tarlazzi, Katherine Hamnett, Nordstrom, Ralph Lauren and Neiman Marcus. Her classic beauty made her a favorite of photographers like, Albert Watson, Lord Snowdon, Arthur Elgort, Tyen, Stephen Klein, Hans Feurer, Gilles Bensimon and Bruce Weber.

In the 90s, Lana signed with Cover Girl Cosmetics alongside Niki Taylor, Rachel Hunter , making her the first ethnic model to have an exclusive contract with the company. Her print advertisements were featured in every type of magazine and not just specifically ‘black’ magazines. This was a first in the cosmetics industry. An advocate of diversity in fashion, Lana was part of ‘The Black Girl’s Coalition’ in the 90’s, a group organized by former model and agent Bethann Hardison. The group worked to raise awareness both inside and outside of the fashion industry, about the lack of diversity on the runways and in print. After being chosen to be a brand ambassador for Cover Girl, Ms. Ogilvie’s career continued to grow working for Victoria Secrets and Sports Illustrated, as well as with directors  Brett Ratner, Peter Arnell, Ellen Kraus, and David Bailey, shooting iconic commercials for Peugot, Tia Maria and Cover Girl Cosmetics.

Moving into television, Lana became an on-air host and segment producer at Fashion Television, a segment contributor for CBC and CitiLine, as well as writing for various Canadian fashion magazines. Lana has trained to be a fine jeweler, designing a line of handmade jewelry called Sabre. She continues to work as a television host and model, recently shooting for NYDJ with Christie Brinkley, Bridget Moynahan and Ashley Graham.

In 2019 Lana Ogilvie Cosmetics launched in New York City. ‘Having been a beauty model for 30 years, I have my skin to thank for my decades long career.’ Lana Ogilvie Cosmetics can help you realize your best skin.
